Our Structure
The BCA is headed by Keith Stokes-Smith FCIS, ACMA, a Magistrate, Consul for Lithuania, President of the Birmingham Consular Association and President of the Greater Birmingham Commonwealth Chamber of Commerce.
The BCA is supported by Birmingham City Councils International Office who assist with strategic direction and administrative/secretarial support. The Association achieves its outcome by focusing upon three areas of Commonwealth interest, each area chaired by highly proficient individuals with relevant experience and skills:
Trade and Business – *Professor Martin Levermore MBE, DL, FRSA, Chartered MCISI. Founder and Chief Executive of Medical Devices Technology International
Communities – *Wade Lyn CBE, Hon Consul for Jamaica and the driving force behind Cleon Foods Ltd
Education – Professor Louise Toner, Associate Dean: Academic Portfolio & Market Development, Faculty of Health, Education & Life Sciences, Birmingham City University
All three chairs are supported by focus group ‘Comittees’, each focus group having its own set of objectives.
The BCA is a company limited by guarantee. Two of its Focus Group Chairs*, together with the BCA Chairman, Keith Stokes-Smith, are executive Directors of the company. In addition, the company has or will have a number of non-executive directors to include, at this point in time, Mr Tony Shergill and Mr Paul Sabapathy CVO CBE. The company, therefore, has five Directors being Messrs Stokes-Smith, Levermore, Lyn, Shergill and Sabapathy. Both Tony and Paul are a great asset to the BCA, injecting new energy and drive into the association.
