12 Sep Birmingham Airport Awarded Star UK Airport 2018
Birmingham Airport has been awarded the Star UK Airport of 2018 by UK Travel Agents.
The Travel Bulletin Star Awards is the travel industry’s most prestigious awards event and honours some of the biggest names in the travel industry.
This is the fourth time that Birmingham Airport has won this award in the last five years and was up against strong competition amongst its peer group with entries from Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, London Stansted and Manchester.
This award adds to this year’s success with Birmingham Airport having recently been crowned the best second city airport thanks to the Which? annual airport survey, gaining the best overall score of the larger airports with 61 per cent, second only to London Heathrow T5.
This is another great accolade for Birmingham Airport, which has celebrated a period of extensive investment, to improve facilities and services for customers. Birmingham Airport is committed to always looking at new ways to improve their services and develop facilities at the airport. This was demonstrated earlier this month when we were named the UK’s most Family Friendly airport and today’s news further highlights how the airport is moving forward with our ongoing commitment to passengers.
Tom Screen, Acting Aviation Director, Birmingham Airport said: “The trade team at Birmingham Airport work tirelessly with the travel trade to promote and raise awareness of what the airport has to offer. Joint campaigns with airlines and tour operators ensure that high street, online and home based travel agents know they have a dedicated support team here at the Airport for any questions and queries.
“This accolade is also testament to the investment in facilities and customer service that has been on-going during 2018 to ensure we offer the best service to our passengers.”
The Travel Bulletin Awards serve to recognise, reward and celebrate excellence by acknowledging those suppliers that have flourished over the last 12 months and have provided the best products and services to travel agents nationwide.
The voting was conducted exclusively by high street, online and home-based travel agents over a 6-week period between April and June 2018. No nominations or supplier registrations were required so this was a completely open vote!
